WWII begins with the treaty of Versailles forcing Germany to do different things like give up colonies, pay reparations, and accept full blame for the first war. The Treaty of Versailles are the peace treaties that ended WWI. Those actions led to the rise of new dictatorship and the rise of the Nazi Party. The Nazi party was dictated by a man named Adolf Hitler. During world war II, in 1933, Hitler took multiple Jews and put them into concentration camps to force them into labor and even execute them. This resulted in him killing 11 million people, and 1.1 million of those people were children. The holocaust ended in 1945. But, from 1936-39, Hitler has been taking over places and was soon given the policy of appeasement. Hitler was giving the Germans mindset that the Jews were the reason for World War I, that they killed Christ, and that Germans were more superior.
Crimes against humanity is activity that consist of dehumanization, kidnappings, and many more practices that result in killing a large group of people. The holocaust is an example of crimes against humanity because the holocaust consist of dehumanization. The Nazi party made an outline of their goals and ideas in 1920. On the list it talked about different things with dealing how they wanna grow in land, building an army but also rules like “Abolition of unearned income- (no rent slavery) ,” (Document 1). By the Nazi party saying those rules showing the Germans don’t pay the workers from the countries that they invaded which is a form a slavery, and an example of crimes against humanity. Another way the holocaust was kidnapping a large amount of Jews. The SS-Gruppenfuhrer sent a message to all the police and field officers in 1938. They were planning on breaking all the windows of the Jew’s businesses and it was these rules about what they were doing. Once they broke all the windows, they would find all the Jews and arrest them. Then, once arrested there are “Carried out to the appropriate concentration camp,”(Document 3). By the Germans breaking down the Jew businesses and taking them to concentration camps is considered kidnapping because they are forced to go somewhere they didn’t want to go and weren’t intended to go. Holding people captive and excluding a specific type of a specific type of ethnicity/ religion is apart of the practice of crimes of humanity.

Genocides
Guatemala experienced crimes against humanity due to kidnappings, disappearances, ,government policies and other crimes. From 1983 to 1985, the present and military for Guatemala hid a logbook of the different people in Guatemala who they kidnapped, tortured, and executed. On the right side, it had a picture of the person, and on the left side it had their information like their name, date of birth, and other essentials (Document 2). By them keeping the logbook a secret and taking a large amount of people from Guatemala to do different things to them is an example of crime against the humanity in Guatemala. Even back in 16th century, Guatemala were getting taken over and became slaves in their own country. In 2009, there was trial charging against eight senior officials and they are charged for crime against humanity back in 1982. There were multiple witnesses including a witness that was a member of the defense patrols and he talked about how it was when the army got to Guatemala. He talked about how he had to join the PAC and how it “Became a military-controlled village,” (Document 3). By the military taking over Guatemala and controlling and forcing them to do things or else they execute them shows crimes against humanity. Also with them being accused of crimes against humanity a year before they made the logbook, they could be apart of the people who made the book.
Cambodia is also an example of crimes against humanity because of the execution and deportation. Cambodia is a very small country in South East Asia so it makes a difference when there is a mass killing happening in the country. There is a picture of multiple skeletons in a row and its multiple skeletons piled up in the background. They were the victims from the killing fields (Document 3). Due to the picture showing multiple skeletons on top of each other shows that there was a mass killing in the area, which is an example of crime against humanity. The leader of that massing killing was a man name Pol Pot and he also did more than just that act. There was a book called, “Genocide in the 20th Century: Pol Pot in Cambodia 1975-1979” and it talk what happened in Cambodia when Pol Pot had gain power. It talked about what they did to the Cambodia and how they separated them from everyone else and “Evacuated on foot into the countryside at gunpoint. As many as 20,000 died along the way, “ (Document 2). By Pol Pot deporting the people in Cambodia and making them walk barefooted and execution to them shows 2 examples of crimes against humanity.
